The multi-talented aberrant artist has evolved as a powerful sensation within the gospel world. In 1997 at the young age of 21, Tonex released his debut album, Pronounced Toe-Nay. The album was hip and groovy, blending a number of styles from retro/funk to gospel jazz. It was clear that the young artist had so much to share with the world.
Tonex signed with Verity Records, and released another anticipated album in 2002, O2. The album was a great endeavor, featuring tracks such as ‘God has not 4Got’ and the sweet ballad ‘That’s when’. With a fusion of tracks, such as the uplifting harmonious ‘To Know You Lord’ Tonex is accompanied with an ensemble of splendid background vocals. On the almost-hymnal classical track ‘God is Love’, Tonex again delivers an inspiring ballad, ministering about finding God’s love in your life.
The two-disc project also features some ‘Freestyle Worship’ complete with spoken word exerts and once again, a variety of musical prowess. Kirk Franklin is featured on ‘Since Jesus came into my Heart’, while the spiritual ballad ‘You’re Word’ features Morpheus. The deep-felt track ministers to us, admonishing us to believe that God will keep His promises because His word does not fail.
