"Gospel Dream 2004" Airs On BET Sept. 26th And Oct. 3rd
BET's first two-part reality series this year. Fresh on the heels of the success of Telly Award winner "Gospel Dream 2003"-the gospel industry's most watched reality show to date garnering over two million viewers-expectations for "Gospel Dream 2004" is in full height.

On September 26th and October 3rd, preempting the Bobby Jones Gospel Show, BET will air the first two- part-reality series "Gospel Dream 2004" where one aspiring gospel singer will be rewarded with a record contract after a demanding audition process.
Hosted by Stellar, Dove and Soul Train Music Award winner, Byron Cage, "Gospel Dream 2004" is a version of American Idol with a spiritual twist, filling a void in an industry yearning for more entertainment outlets.

Created and executive produced by Elvin Ross, senior executive produced by Bishop Paul S. Morton, and produced by Tammy Johnson, the talent competition tours throughout the country making its last stop in Phoenix, AZ where the top 10 finalists perform before delegates of the Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship International Conference and select judges.
"I had an idea to transplant the American Idol format to Gospel and present it to my father-in-law Bishop Paul S. Morton," said Ross. "He was more than happy to back the project and oversee the development."

V. Michael McKay, one of the industry's best, worked with music director Joel Britton assisting contestants with proper song selections and vocal techniques while gospel music industry executives Alvin Williams (Shirley Caesar, Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child), Gerald Wright (Kirk Franklin), Cheryl Moore of Provident Label Group and Michelle Duffie of Light Records conducted auditions.

The elimination process, staged much like Tyra Bank's America's Next Top Model and Donald Trump's The Apprentice, involved Ross handing each contestant either an itinerary for the rest of the week as a finalist or an itinerary to go home.

After the elimination process, contestants have a one-on-one interview where finalists share information about their hopes, dreams and purpose.

The audience participates along with the judges in the voting process and the winner is announced the last night of the Full Gospel conference.

Viewers get to see the contestant's lighter side when they, and special guest Kirk Franklin, attend the CD release party for Benita Washington's debut release "Hold On."

Washington is the first-place winner of the 2003 Gospel Dream talent search competition winning a recording contract with Full Gospel Entertainment/Light Records/Tehillah Music Group.
