Healing and wholeness is the core of the WOMAN THOU ART LOOSED series that has been expressed and taught through mediums of print, spoken word, theatre and music, just to name a few. It would not be Bishop Jakes if he didn't "next level" the teachings to cinema. WOMAN THOU ART LOOSED now hits the big screen.Directed by Michael Schultz, WTAL recounts the life of Michelle (portrayed by
Kimberly Elise), a young woman who grows up shadowed by abuse and molestation at
the hand of her mother's boyfriend Reggie (Clifton Powell). Debbie Morgan,
Michael Boatman and Bishop T.D. Jakes himself, star as well. <P>
WTAL journeys through the subsequent downfall of Michelle as she
fights to survive and maintain her sanity. She slips into a life of drugs and
prostitution, and ultimately jail, before arriving at a moment of revival during
a furlough from her sentence. With nowhere else to turn to Michelle is forced to
reach deep inside herself and begin her road to recovery - but not without one
final attempt to do it her way.
WTAL is in theatres now nationwide and features an all-star cast.
The movie has already won the Grand Prize at the Santa Barbara Film Festival and
the Audience Award at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF).
